As a small alternative education centre it is not expected that our pupils will stay for extended periods. If pupils do experience an extended stay, as is the policy, we are eligible to apply for Pupil Premium. Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
The CornerPost Education Centre won Staffordshire Pupil Premium Plus Award 2016 in the Alternative Education Category. This award was for supporting one of our pupils when he was having major surgery. The Pupil Premium Funding was used to buy a tablet which was then connected to our server. This allowed the pupil to have full access to the curriculum work and projects and homework set. As a result the pupil maintained his studies and his transition back into the centre was flawless as he was up to full speed on all lessons delivered.
